I hunted there a few times for bear this year. I've seen some sign and some deer. I was wondering if anyone else hunts out there or lives out there. I was off Tiger Mission Road. I'm just wondering if it's worth the drive out there or am I wasting my time. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have a friend who is a Kitsap Co Sheriffs Deputy. He hit a bear in his cruiser last week right next to the Casino on Bainbridge. There are bears in the area.

Seems like at least one is hit every year on HWY 3 going up the hill from Gorst towards Belfair.

Bears from Olalla to Hansville, with some state and timber company land, sprinkled in. Lots of land on the northern end, I think Pope Resources still own it, but not sure? Been a few years since I lived there, someone on here, I'm sure has some more up to date info. Good Luck.

your not wasting your time. but if you go in any of those gates on that road during deer season your gonna have four other truck on the same gate. and pope gives out a few disabled hunters keys, and they drive the roads alot and park to shoot up and down the road as there alley way. I also live on the old Belfair hwy and my property borders all that pope land but it's a long ways from the people coming in those gates.

Thanks everyone for the input. As far as deer, I have another spot for deer. Thanks for the heads up though!

Any pope land in north Kitsap is closed to hunting. They have an office in port gamble where you can get their map. But yeah, lots of bear over here.

Sorry for jumping in on this post but i noticed that green and gold mountain was mentioned as a nice place for beer and i have also been told its alright for deer. My question is where would i park? I know that there is a spot on holly rd that i need a vehicle pass to park there and it is also a starting point for a hiking trail. Is that the right area or am i off by a long shot?
