that face when you miss at 30yds
« on: September 19, 2014, 06:56:33 AM »
I took Dinker out for an afternoon deer hunt yesterday.  We walk for a while and on our way out about 7 o'clock a nice doe was standing off the trail.  Dink draws I range here big swing and a miss.  He hit a limb about 10yds in front of us sending his arrow low left in front of the deer.  Fortunately it was a clean miss.

Poor Dinker. The young man has been through so much. He is after all related to you yes?

Go get him another chance.

I know that feeling.

Fortunately it was a clean miss.

That's always my thought as well when I miss.

Well at least the arrow made it ten yards!  I remember a big bull on Manastash Ridge years ago and my arrow never got out of the bow before hitting the first branch :bash:  You'd have thunk I'd of seen that one :chuckle:

I've been thinking of making an official "Loser" cap for our group.  Someone who misses is forced to wear it until someone else has the next miss.  Figuring a regular camo cap with a fancy Logo.  There would be a hand on the right and a hand on the left and between them it says, "LOSER - Missed 'em by that much"

We already have the end of season gift for the person who doesn't fill a tag.  That person gets a box of Lucky Charms shipped to their door a week after the season ends ;)
He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."

The hat could have a logo like this on it...

From my buddy who thought he shot an elk... he didn't.

been there... i have actually shot a deer and look for over 6 1/2 hours and never found it.... so i totally understand the frustration.  i will tell you that when u do get your first with a bow you might never want to pick up a rifle again... i just shot my firs tblack tail buck with a bow and it sure felt good.... i hunted whitetail down south my whole life till i moved here in 2012. Trust me you will get it.... like stated before a clean miss rather than a bad shot where they suffer

I think most bow hunters have had that experience and that face of "Rats did that really happen?"...
