What an awesome season
« on: October 29, 2014, 10:44:37 PM »
What a fun year. Got my 2 youngest kids through hunters safety in the spring. My daughter (13) is the one that is a natural with a gun or bow. She's been shooting her 22's most of the summer. Once fall hit I was super excited when she said shed love to go deer hunting with me. So after a trip to cabelas for her to look the part, we made a plan. We where lucky to secure private land in 108 for the youth any deer and found a farmer that wanted doe numbers reduced. We sat in the blind and watched bucks and fawns come and go throughout the day. Then at 4pm the big doe finally stepped out. She was shooting her moms 7mm-08 youth model, and once the doe gave a nice side profile BOOM 115yrds fell in her tracks dead. I'm hoping her younger brother joins us next year.  I was lucky enough to get this great big bodied old BT buck today. His neck was swollen up big and no matter how rutty he was, it'll still taste better than the tag soup I had last year. Good luck to those still hunting and congrats to those that filled. Now onto football and pheasants.

Good job, we need more dads getting their daughters out hunting!
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.
