Dead is dead..   I say if you can hit a paper plate at a 100 yds off hand, go with it.

I am by far a Rem fan, but now own a Savage axis in .243 that will give a whole lot of my Remmys a run for there money..

I dont care what a rifle looks like, how smooth the action is, stainless, blued...

As long as it accurately puts ordinance on target its good to go..
I kill elk and eat elk, when I'm not, I'm thinking about killing elk and eating elk.

It doesn't matter what you think...

the savages are sloppy poorly finished , you can ssee the bullets in the mag with the bolt closed , but they shoot ! they are meat and potato's kinda like a t3 what you buy is what you get . if you want a moa gun then a savage or tika is a good bet . if you want to be able to ad on then cost wise a rem is hard to beat just so many parts . take rem with a timmey trigger and bedding job any day .

I find it strange that in topics like this Winchester is hardly ever brought up. I have a model 70 that is an absolute tack driver! Anyway, back to your thoughts and opinions.

I find that odd as well, I have several model 70's myself and never have even come close to considering parting with them.  They really are that good.  I notice there are many Tikka's and Savages that find their way into the classifieds here.  Very interesting.

Go to cabelas or sportsmans that has lotsa shootin irons, finger em, play with em and go from there. That being said I'd buy a model 7 or 700 Remington, throw a Jewell trigger in it and be happy

I know alot of guys will disagree but im a big fan of the browing xbolt and abolt. I own the xbolt in a 7mm rem. Mag and the abolt in the 270 win. I love both of them and they are very accurate with factory ammo but, thats just my  :twocents:. There usually priced between 700 to 800 bucks.

:yeah: I have had my A-bolt II in 325wsm for over eight years and love it! I also had one in 270wsm and only had it a short time but it was a great rifle as well i just prefer cartridges that are larger than .30cal

My X-Bolt in .338wm wouldn't shoot worth a damn with any bullet/powder, so I got rid of it. My wife's X-Bolt in 300wsm shoots consistent cloverleafs with 200gr accubonds and a max load of 7828ssc. She's gonna have some pink accented camo done to the stock, probably so I'll quit taking it on my hunts lol

I have a Savage and Ruger, another friend has a Remington, another friend has a T3.  Which one is more accurate?  The one behind the trigger who is having the better day.    :dunno:  Just saying!

Most all manufacturer's these days are putting out rifles that can flat out shoot well.  If it was me though, I would narrow my options down to rifles that are made in the good ol' USA.  Lets keep our dollars at home.   This is me riding off on my high horse  :chuckle:>>>>> :llam:

I bought my savage 110 brand new with a mounted scope and accutrigger for $385 in 2009. After putting on a better scope (Leopold VX1), adding a comb raiser (I personally need these on all my guns), and finding the ammo it likes (federal trophy copper) it shoots sub .5 MOA from the bench.

So with that, I think a $300 savage 110 ( bit more if you want stainless steel or other options), then spend the rest on glass and ammo.
You will never shoot a camp bull by spending all your time hunting in the woods.

Funny how the guy behind the trigger is usually working with the Savage.      :chuckle:
