Clothing Idea for Blaze orange. Prototype being made.
« on: December 21, 2014, 04:05:06 PM »
So over the years I have noticed a few things with hunting in modern season. First thing is I hate having to take on and off my vest every time I need to drop or add a layer, esp if its been raining, then stopped so my now wet vest goes on dry clothes. The only other thing there is to pack an extra dry vest. So I like the idea of the main clothing worn being blaze so I can shed or add layers with no vest required. However I have noticed that against certain backgrounds, the animals do tend to notice the plain blaze more then the break-up versions. This makes me want everything to be the break-up pattern. However, it is not always easy to find in certain types of clothing, like a standard long sleeve t-shirt. And when in close quarters I have noticed that when I am wearing something with blaze sleeves and have to move an arm at all, the animals pick up on it more then if I am wearing camo with a blaze vest. This is my solution to it all. If I could have every layer like this then it would be perfect. Camo sleeves, blaze break-up torso. Also, my idea stems off of these examples of what blaze may appear like to a deer. What does everyone think? Valid idea?

Haha, I wanted to start with just a simple cotton t-shirt but its been hell finding a good fabric in both the camo pattern and the break up blaze pattern for it. Found some good fleece that would work. The break-up pattern has been the harder one for me to find.

I like it.  Need a jacket like that as well that's made of fleece. Quiet and legal

I like it, having layering options would be nice in warm weather

I wear a break up camo orange vest I bought years ago. It's basically the same thing as what your designing but I've got the regular camo under so I look like your drawing. I think it's a great design you've come up with for hunts when it's a little warmer and you don't want to layer up. I'd buy one or two..  :)

You'd want to be careful, in average to smaller sizes that probably wouldn't make 400 sq. inches.

Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.

If you've got issue with your existing gear getting wet, I stay away from cotton.

heck yea! I wish ASAT would do a blaze version since the regular ASAT is basically a cloaking device against critters eyes. a blaze merino wool top would be at the top of my "i need it" list

I would go full blaze including the sleeves as an option.  With a backpack on it normally covers all the orange from the rear.

It's a good idea, I'm surprised we don't see more of the blaze camo patterns around. I'm also shocked Sitka, First Lite, etc don't do any blaze camo patterns for their vests and such. They all hunt modern too!

Ideally what I would want is an UnderArmour style long sleeve shirt for a base layer/warm weather, then plain long sleeve cotton shirt, then sweatshirt, a lightweight jacket, and a rain jacket. Generally this is how I layer if need be, I tend to move around enough that I end up down to the first two layers quite a bit. I appreciate everyone's thoughts on this.
