Horse Vs. femur (a little grahic)
« on: January 20, 2015, 06:17:21 PM »
Wife took a bit of a spill last weekend.  Horse reared up and just kept coming all the way over. She mostly got out of the way but her foot got caught up in the stirrup. Broken femur and tibia on her left leg, broken fibia on her right. Nine hour surgery on Monday to bolt her all back together. No weight on her right leg for 6 - 8 weeeks, none on her left for 3 (?) months.
I can't say enough about the incredibly talented doctors,  nurses and staff at Harbor View medical center.
She's home now, already started her pt and excercises.
The horse is fine, he's lucky I'm still feeding him...

First time posting pics from my phone.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery for her. I know what it's like to loose mobility. Tell her to take her time and not push it.

Thanks for all the positive thoughts and well wishes. She says if she wasn't built like a linebacker she'd still be there learning how to transition from bed to wheelchair to commode.  :chuckle:

Hope she gets well soon.  Let her know to be diligent on the therapy.  I got my arm all back with no pain and it's been a year. Good luck.  I understand the horse thing but sorry can't not ride them!

Get Well

This is exactly why I got rid of my horses. My next horse will have a POLARIS brand on it.

I am hoping she has a speedy recovery.  Man, that look terrible.
