Ranger is hard to beat. Sounds like a blast!
I felt like a one legged cat trying to bury a terd on a frozen pond!

For those that have fished on the ranger can you give me some insight? I looked on the website and it mentions to bring gear. No problem. I've got a go to rig for bottom fishing. Does that mean rod and real only? Tackle? Someting tells me they frown on braided line?

It did mention gear would be provided for guests that don't have it. I'd rather bring my own rod/reel and use their tackle. You know....for the derby winning lingzilla.

When i talk to him at the end of the week I'll ask what his recommendations are for bringing gear.

GoPro, cameras....all that. At least for the party! I imagine D-Rock will be in rare form.

I take my own rod/reel spooled up with 40lb mono. They will provide the lure/ bait/hooks/weight. They do not allow braid. If you don't have a pole, the boat has plenty. I use a Penn 209 and an 8' heavy action rod. seems like overkill, but with the amount of weight they use to get you down to the fish, you almost need a rig similar to this.  Your gonna have fun!!!

This thread should be renamed and tee shirts printed up... :chuckle:
To hunt and butcher an animal is to recognize that meat is not some abstract form of protein that springs into existence tightly wrapped in cellophane and styrofoam.

Okay...gear is packed and leaving work a bit early this afternoon. Jam on down, get good and drunk, sleep a few hours and we are off!

Weather looks doable....rain gear is packed.
