Yes!  It was for flipping him the bird!!!
Ha ha ha.  Got ya.  We shot two nice toms before noon, so we went into town for supplies and a beer. The bartender got me with the joke, thought I would share. Your welcome.

Roosted lots of birds last night.   Shot the first tom out of the rooster flock that we called in twice.  Second time they just walked over us. Worked another bird for 45 mins until he stepped out in front of us disguised as a jake.  Came into crazy Eddie, our new edition.  The second bird was around noon.  Tom was strutting and spitndrumming in front of us while I distracted the hens with Cra Cra Eddie.  Steve finally shot him at 10 yards.  Ugly mountain bird.  Don't tell him I said that though.  It's his birthday.   Rest of the day was spent sighting in 223s.

Crazy Eddie back at it again this morning.  Tom was all alone.  Worked him for a bit. Showed him Eddie.  He just stood there staring back at me.  Little bit more calling and he took a few more steps towards us.  Dropped him at 20 yards. Sure is nice weather over here.

Got busted on a flock this morning.   Other hunters working the birds so we backed out.   I kept calling and the gobblers came back in and they shot so good for them. We called in a group of birds that were gobbling hard and had five jakes walk through us at mere feet. If they gobble like that, we will shoot. Buddy missed at ten feet. Easier to do then you would think.

All I can say is this bird was epic! We shot him in self defense.   Story later.

So everyone knows the birds were getting quiet. Morning was without noise.  We started our routine.  The first call, I s$&t you not, had 15 jakes gobble and come in before we could sit down.  Lesson learned.  2 hours and 10 setups later we hit a faint gobble.  After flanking, we started the session.  The birds came right by me (I don't have a tag at this point) gobbler strutting and all. We let them go above us and regrouped.  I knew the skidder trail wrapped back up around them so we took it.  He answered every time we needed. I finally watched the hens feed in front of us. They paid no heed. Soon after I could see his magic head. Blue, white them red. Changing. He fed. Then looked and saw us.  It reminded me of Jurassic park.  He just started running at us.  Buddy yells get down! and takes him at 15'. Nuts.  Completely nuts. We spent the rest of the day shooting 300 rounds at dirt mounds thinning out the pest population. We also joined the 1000 yard club. On a sad note, Eddie was mauled later that night by a farm dog who snickered at me as I shamed him.
