« on: June 12, 2015, 09:02:18 AM »
thats all b.s. sorry tell you all. my son already turn 16. he never drew a permit that he been wanting one since he got his hunting ed. and now i have a daugther turning 16 in Jan. she drew none in youth elk tag. even they add more elk youth permits thinking she will draw one this year before i waste my money to the bs state. this sysytem are sucks. thinking they give  8,9,10 years elk tags. think they cant go hike 5 or 10 miles.not right . pretty suck all my money and state love that idea. taking away thier hard work to spend in the permit system.

My kids have been very lucky on the youth deer tags every year....( my boys are grown now)  my daughter (14) has drawn deer tags almost every year this is the first year she drew a blank... Last year she drew a youth cow permit.. the youth moose...etc do not know how a kid gets them... but they should let them carry the points on as an adult...after all they were paid for?????? :twocents:

Get their moose points in the any moose category and the antlerless category if you want to build their points for when they are no longer qualified to apply in the youth category. Simple, and cheap.

There's nothing to whine about.  The unfairness is MATH. There's nowhere near enough tags available for every youth to draw elk, period.  There's no solution to the problem nor is there any blame.  I have 3 kids so I'm in the same boat.

Youth can already buy adult pool Oil points so I see no reason to roll in their youth only category points.  We have too many hunters for too few high desire tags. Not drawing is just the logical result of that math.  You either need more critters or fewer people if you want to change the outcomes.

 :yeah: :yeah:

All 3 of my boys graduated from youth never having drawn an elk or any other youth permit other than deer.

It is to be expected.

My son was only able to draw one youth permit.
Nephew has been drawn for 4, two deer on elk,  He also looks at the most unpopular tags and puts in for those.  I guess a doe is a doe and a cow is a cow.  I put him in...  I only look at the odds.  Nothing else....

My daughter drew a youth cow permit in W Klickitat, her 4th choice. This is only her 2nd year applying. Very lucky considering others not drawing with 2 or 3 times the points.

Both boys have drawn cow or doe tags several times. I try to put them in for less applied for permits so they have better opportunities.
