Never had a issue or hurried any deer..September whitetail is by far the best to eat hands down not even comparable to November deer. So I guess you dont bow hunt elk.  Ive hung elk in 80 degree weather in the shade overnight and its fine.

I will be joining the bow hunting group this year.  Making final plans and loading supplies.

No sadly all of my hunting buddies are to lazy to go chase elk. I have always wanted to but don't wanna go at it alone.

Its gonna be a strange year for sure! But 110 percent effort should still be rewarded in the end.

Hope this smoke clears or it will be a pain trying to breathe..
I kill elk and eat elk, when I'm not, I'm thinking about killing elk and eating elk.

It doesn't matter what you think...

I went and hiked my camp in yesterday about 6 miles for the archery opener on the east side and I felt like it was hard to breath. I couldn't tell if it was from the smoke or altitude but usually I do great been hitting the gym everyday and I'm only 26 so idk

I don't know how it will be when the 1st finally arrives, but anyone heading east should be aware of the smoke problems.  It is so thick in some areas that any heavy working will make you sick, and it comes on kind of quick.  I'm very healthy and on Saturday I was only good for about an hour outside before heavy coughing and dizziness set in.  Taking a long hike into that smokey country could be kind of risky.  Part of the problem is how quickly the smoke can set in.  You might get an hour of fairly clear sky, then suddenly it's so smokey you can't see 1/4 mile.  Just something to keep in the back of your mind before you take off on a long hike into the off road areas. And NO CAMPFIRES, I know some of the locals in our area are self policing and are not going to be very kind to anyone who starts a any kind of campfire.

I'm always excited to be out in the woods, this will be my first year archery hunting. Just wish we had a little bit more rain so things were so dry

My first archery hunt as well. My scouting so far this year has not turned up very much activity, but I do know where a few bucks like to hang out... :D

Anyhow, I'm going to hunt low creeks and north facing slopes to try and combat this heat. It'll be fun no matter what.

Not ready for the first.  Been way to busy and haven't had time for much of anything.  I wish it was another 2 months out. :sry:

I'm liking this forecast for the archery opener.  Perhaps a few wet, windy, cool days will get some deer up and moving around by the first.

I was looking forward to the 1st (well the 3rd is when I was leaving) but my area is closed due to fires.  Maybe with the rain it will open back up sometime this next week but I doubt it.

Looking like more closures on the eastside but my normal areas for rifle are still open. Will be my first year archery hunting

Where can one go to see where the closures are?  I’m just hearing yesterday at work from a fellow hunter that there are areas closing, specifically State land.

I went to the wdfw site and they had links. I know that inland empire land is closed and that is on their site. For national forest go to their site and select Washington and choose the national forest in question
