Would a .17 HMR be sufficient enough of a gun to hunt coyote? If there is another gun that you would reccomend please do.  :)

Well lots will say no and some will say yes. To what I have read alot has to do with shoot placement. When you say reccomend there are lots to keep in mind and lots of answers to the question.
1> Do you want to keep the hide? If not bigger is better on size
2> If you want to keep hide I would say a 204ruger or bigger
3> If you have a 243 to use you can get lucky and save some hides and drop them fast

This is just my  :twocents:

Well I guess if the hides were good enough to save I would but I dont have a .243 only a .308. The only reason I was wondering about a .17 HMR is because if the price.

Duck i have shot two coyotes with my .17 and killed both.  Like cat said the placement is everything when using it for coyotes.  Neither one of them dropped on the spot but they didnt go very far either.  There not my top pick for shooting coyotes but they will get the job done.

I have one and yes they are very fun. But I have a 204 Ruger now and the 17hmr will probley just set in the gun cabinet. They are very accurate rifles. With mine at 100yrds can do 1/2 inch groups all day long.
