Buy a topo map, it's a valley.

If you head due North you don't have to go up hill.  You will get a little moist though.

I live in the area so I will confirm that you do have to up hill both south and north bound, although the south bound hill is higher and more noticable.

Been here 21 years and never seen elk this close to town.  Just wondering what made them come down this far?

22 years ago a cow was hit right at the Old Nisqually road entrance ramp Northbound.  Totally destroyed that car.  Early morning.  Not sure if this same spot you refer too?

This was pretty close to the northbound exit ramp.

Ha!  Funny in a sad sort of way.

Great story as you read from top to bottom.  I'm sure  a sharp comedian could make a good bit out of this story.
