This is probably a dumb question but I never paid attention I guess.. if you're splitting up trips, what do you pack out first?

horns! :chuckle: just kidding I start with hindquarters and then go down in weight from there

If going back to camp I pack the horns first but if back to a rig then horns last.

 If by myself, I pack out the head and as much weight as I can carry the first trip, knowing I will be far less able the second trip.
