For me it's always been the .45-70, not a glamorous round but I've always wanted one.

Another one that has come up fairly recently my sister found an old box of .250 savage ammunition, and since neither her my brother in law are hunters/shooters they automatically assumed it was something of mine and gave it to me. Best I can assume it was my grandfathers before he passed away. I remember hearing that he had a .250 savage but my grandmother sold it in his later years as he slipped into dementia. Now I really want a .250 savage

An accurate .223. :chuckle:

I always wanted to get my hands on a CZ in 500 Jeffery or 470 Mbogo.

Id like a 356w in a early Marlin lever gun  and a 25-06 or 6.5cm
Pavement, crowds and inaccurate rifles...
Thanks anyway.

Very neat topic. Lots of really neat cartridges metioned so far. My first rifle was a 6.5x55 swede and probably the coolest cartridge I have shot.

As for cartridges I have no experience but am in love with. I would have to say .25-06 for rifles. I love a good .30-06, so the little brother must be good too. (Although if the 30 Nosler is a real thing as mentioned before, that might move right to the top of my list.) In a hand gun I would say 41 rem mag. I've heard some great stories about it, but never even held one.

My grandfather was a great story teller.  As a young boy I remember summer stays with grandpa as the best days of my life.  I know some kids were given bedtime stories about fairy's, friendly monsters or dragons, even fables and nursery rhymes.  Well, not at grandpa's house!!  At grandpa's we were put to bed with hunting stories!

Many of my favorite stories were of hunting blacktail deer in Canada or up by the old camp at Capital Peak.  Most of those were of my grandmothers fabulous feats of accuracy and quick kills using the 25-35.  Probably the reason I am a quarter bore nut to this day.  But, I have not yet shot a single thing with the 25-35.  One of these days I will!  And I'm sure grandma and grandpa will be watching the whole thing from their heavenly perches.

That will be a great day!
My dad's uncle always shot a 25-35. I always heard how he always got meet with it back in the 50's and 60's. They still seem to show up at my dad's place, I think he's up to three now. They are fun to shoot!

Bigshooter, I've owned and have shot most of the Savage round except that is about to change.  I have a BRNO-301 combo gun in transit in 12ga over 22 High-power/5.6x52R.  Hope to HP some çoyotes this winter with it, it even has BRNO scope mount/rings.
After the first shot the rest are just noise.

Make mine a Minaska

.450-577 Martini Henry, I actually have 10 rds but my Martini was a shot out 303 that I concerted to 45-70 I am ttrying real hard to shoot about everything I think I might be interested in by horse trading the rifles I've shot for ones I've not. Fun but hard and expensive in the long run
That which does not kill me should've had a better plan

35 whelen and 338 edge.
I have a ruger 3006 that I want to rebarrel in 35 whelen.
338 edge has some pretty impressive ballistics. The only reason I don't have one is because 300 ultra mag brass is hell to find.

Don't let that stop you! Just form brass from 404 jeffery cases. Or just find somebody with a healthy supply of rum brass and raid their garage when they aren't looking.  :chuckle: That's what everyone does to me!

Let's see I have shot:

.223/5.56, .308/7.62, 50AE, .357Mag, .38, .380, .40SW, 9mm, .45Auto, .338LM, .50BMG, 7.62x39, 45-70, .22 short, long, long rifle and mag, and .17HMR.

Maybe my favorite or next goal would be a 300blackout, .338-378, .408Cheytac or a .50BMG case neck to take the .408 Cheytac bullet.  :dunno:
