"don't see any horn, I'm gonna watch them ahwile see if a buck shows"

I say doe.  As in "That farm has a lot of doe on it, but no buck."
I also say "There's quite a few buck roaming around that hollow"

I think one must address an important variable that hasn't been brought up when discussing this most serious matter...am I actually hunting or am I drunk in the mountains? One must first establish the level of inebriation the person in such a scenario is exoeriencing before making a decision on what is appropriate. I've been known to take my bow for long drunk walks before when the animals are scarce

In my case, hunting and drunk in the mountains are the same thing.

That sounds just like the guy I used to know. "We saw 23 doe in the clearcut."    :bash:

:yeah:  How was your bear trip? Did you catch any? Yep, chased them down, put them in a head lock until they said uncle. Slapped them on the butt and sent them on their way. Love catching bear.

My favorite! I actually dang near stepped on one last fall that was sitting in some chest high blue berry bushes I was walking through. He stood up less than 6 feet from me. Shooting never crossed my mind, but I believe both of us set new land speed records going opposite directions. It was pretty humorous, a few minutes later.

That's how I would react too.  30 yards - shoot it.  Six feet - run like hell!

Had a few laughs on this thread!  :chuckle: My multiple doe story is riding on the trail and deer scatter (from 6 ft away). First horse does a 180 and almost runs into my horse ( been there done that) who does nothing, the young horse behind wants to run but follows his older sister's example and stays his ground. It was way too funny to watch each horse process what happened.  I have to say the horses did great and I may have run the other way! Lol
