These are what I use, been good.  Traditions smackdown sst.300 gr

I used these and killed my first elk. Also it was the first time hunting with a muzzleloader I've always been archery.

Was able to put 2 shots on him. First shot was 50 yards and hit the shoulder and he couldn't walk with that and hoof rot in the back so was able to reload walk down the hill and shoot again. The other bull that was a 5x5 and he walked away slowly.

I shoot the Barnes Expander Mz in my .54.  I have used both the 275 grain and the 325 grain.  the 325 grain stabilizes and flies a little more consistently.

I use the 325 gr also with the same results.  Went clean through a broadside bull two years ago at about 115 yards.

290 T-EZ for our .50 Bighorns.  Deadly, deadly, deadly.  We've killed about 15 animals over the last 6 years with them.  All bullets either recovered in the far side hide, or exited after leaving a baseball-sized wound channel.  The only (minor) downside is that they tend to tumble around in the critter.  My buddy shot a broadside deer right in the boiler room, and recovered the bullet from the far side hindquarter.  As others have noted, the wound channel from those petals is impressive.

Barnes t-ez is awesome!!

The T-EZ is awesome!  The TMZ are ramrod breaking SOB'S!
:yeah:

I tried the TMZ's, they shoot great, but in both my TC Black Diamond and my Knight Mountinier they are just a pain in the @$$ to load!
I switched to the T-EZ's in 290gr and just love em. They shoot great, nice tight groups with 130grs of powder and I have taken 2 elk and and several deer with them.

I recommend the T-EZ's to all of my buddies.
