WDFW trying to document Wolves near Concrete
« on: May 27, 2016, 08:48:38 AM »
I was talking to a Logging buddy of mine and one of thier crews saw a large pack of wolves Near Concrete here in the Skagit valley. Apparently the WDFW has decided to put up Cameras. Good on them because many of us know there have been wolves in this area for a long time... and not just hybrids...

Following along.
Pain is temporary, achieving the goal is worth it.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.

If I hear they they are hybrids I might need to have a second hair sample examined.

I've heard from a few old timers they had seen wolves up Segelsen area in the 70's. I also heard a story of a guy, living somewhere on Concrete Sauk Valley road, had a bunch of hybrids in some kennels. Then for some unknown reason they were let loose  :dunno:, that was back in the 80's I believe.

WDFW has cameras all over 418 for wolves.  Hike around and you'll find them eventually.  They definitely have pictures of lone wolves.  No pack confirmation yet from what I know.

What is the Nooksack tribe and Lummi tribe's stance on this issue?  Do they support proper conservation of wolves?

I am asking because I haven't heard and I am genuinely curious.

Thanks!

Most coastal tribes are more concerned with salmon. I thik the main exception is the quinault. I thi k they have some attachment to wolves.

The coastal tribal members I've talked to said they plan to shoot every wolf they see.  Said they like elk more than wolves and one thing the white man got right was getting rid of the wolves.
