What animal is this???
« on: July 01, 2016, 12:03:03 AM »
OK, I'm stumped.  I have no idea what this animal is.  I'd go for beaver, but the tail is wrong.  Nutria was my next guess, but the tail is wrong.  Mountain Beaver - too big?  I'd guess it is 18 - 24 inches long and 8 - 12 inches high.

Anyone know?

Looks like a porky to me, but I won't swear to it in a court of law.   :)

yep porcupine
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

Maybe it's a porcupine that identifies as a bobcat.  :o

I could believe juvenile porcupine.

I've seen live adults before, but they don't really look like this guy.  I get no impression of quills, but the rear end view at night doesn't help ID it at all.  Thanks all!
