What a great thread! Persevering & determination can go along ways! This hunt was meant for you, you will do well! Thanks for your service sir!

Thank you Paul!  We have had this discussion before, but I can't say it enough.  You were hands down the most influential person on elk hunting for Me and Aaron coming up as young elk hunters.  I've listened to your CD's countless times, and Aaron LITERALLY took your playboy everywhere.  Even on deployments.  Thank you for tagging along

LOL, I really really hope that's a typo!!

Good luck in your quest.  You will do your brother proud no matter the outcome.

My conditioning the last two weeks has SUCKED!!!!  This last weekend was our 3rd annual Run to Remember, fallen heroes 5k that my mother and I put on here in my home town.  It's a crazy amount of work and the candle got burned at both ends.   We had an amazing turnout this year though.  With over 200 participants and over $9,000 raised for the USO, I feel like I'm finally earning the freedoms that I've been given!

THEN, on sunday, a tree fell on my house!  So this week has been clean up and insurance BS.  Gonna hit the high school today though, then wood cutting saturday and a run and gun scouting trip sunday to check on a bull.

Scouting has been productive.  Being a muley guy, the game plan has been to get high and use the glass.  The rut messes everything up, but I'd I can establish what bulls are in what drainages, I should be money ahead.  Jonathan_S and I watched a couple bulls and a couple little bucks hang out with each other the other day, which was pretty cool.  This was right after we cliff tested our pants :chuckle:  They faired pretty well until his succumbed to the stick butt rape :chuckle:  I'd like to think that that will be the last time he listens when I say "let's cut down right here, it will be shorter", but he is of the same intelligence level as me so I'm betting it won't be our last semi controlled descent together :chuckle:

def not enough!  We hunted MT deer in 2014 and last year did 9 days in idahow for elk.  Unfortunately we couldn't find an elk to save our lives.  Hiked over 115 miles that week and never heard a bugle.  This year his block leave falls over Christmas and the new year so we are gonna try and do AZ archery mule deer.

I'm a selfish bastahd and there are very few people I'd be more happy to see with a quality bull tag than me.  This one is at the top of my list!  I will be following as best I can every step of the journey.
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.
