90 grains of triple 7 3fg and powerbelt 295's.   Insanely accurate for an open site spoke pole.
hey Justin have you ever found a slug using the powerbelts? I quit using them several years ago because The bullet just fragmented held no retention.

Not in a deer, but I found one in the elk I shot last year.  Perfect mushroom, almost flat.  Long poke.

I'm shooting 110 grains 777 and a 290 tez they are great and accurate at targets. But not so much at fur with me driving. (Not the guns fault in any way)  :chuckle:

Figured I'd get that out of the way before the Karl harassment starts.  :chuckle:
why do you have to ruin all my fun  :dunno:  thought you were a smokepole sniper and those elk were just bullet proof :dunno:

that's what I'm trying next.  For reference if your shooting a bighorn can you post a pick of where your rear sight sits?

I bought a Disc Extreme last summer. I received a lot of good advice on here. Sabotloader in particular shared some great information. I'm using 120 grains of 777 3f  with a 300 grain bloodline and a #11 musket cap. I'm very happy with how it shoots. I plan to spend some time with different powder loads checking velocity, but for now I'm very confident in it. I will probably back down to 110 grains based on some experimentation. My Dads been shooting the same combo in his Bighorn and likes the combo

Another disk extreme guy, but 110 777 with 300 bloodline worked best in mine.

. That's what I've tried, but the bullets wouldn't group out at 100, and it didn't look like the stabilized.  This was at 50 yards

I think I am at 100 grains of 777 ffg. Shooting a 290 grain Barnes tez.
with a bighorn?  I'd like to see a pick of where your rear site sits please, and what kind of group at 100 yards?

I am shooting the same set up that Bullblaster & Sabotloader do. I have the same on my Bighorn & Disc Extreme. See Sabotloader's 6/13/2015 post in the muzzleloader section for more info & pics. I'll see if I have some pics of last year's targets.

On my MK's I use a Williams FP peep site.  It has adjustable 1/4 min clicks just like a scope. I also change the front sight over to a Williams Streamlined Ramp with a Williams Fire Site and Fire site hood... makes it appear as if you are looking through a 1X scope.

I have shot the 300 grain Bloodlines for years but the last few years I have switched over the Lehigh .458x305 gr. - 45-70 bullet.  I get better accuracy using a MMP HPH-24 Black sabot than using the Orange 458x50 cal sabot.  The 24's hold the bullet tighter in the sabot so they do not slip on ignition.

With cap ignition I also prefer 110 gr. T7-3f ( burns cleaner and ignites easier) and I use the RWS Dynamit Noble 1075+ caps for hunting and CCI #11 Mags for recreation.  The CCI's will work just fine for hunting also but I like the convoluted side of the RWS cap and the tighter fit.

Keep shooting muzzleloaders - They are a blast!!
