We use to see quite a few elk going in the gate across from the 70 road . We mostly stayed down low along the river coyote hunting and would encounter elk every time . The tribe hunts it quite a bit but it has been our observation that they never get off the road so if a guy was willing to walk a short distance off the road your odds would be better . There's not a lot if any big bulls in there but there are some branched bulls left , know one guy that took a 5x5 out of there a couple years ago year . Good luck .

PM me if you see this comment, I don't really get on this site much anymore but if I get back on and see you messaged me I will tell you what I know.  Good luck on that hunt!
When you see the third, thin the herd.
Right now I'm somewhere picking up sheds.

The Hancock "permit" is just an access pass. Anyone can buy it, but you still have to draw a White River tag to hunt Elk.  :twocents:

Got quite a few pictures of these bulls over the past month.  No monsters, but fun to see nonetheless.
