well it was a whirl wind weekend . Two weeks ago after about two minutes of thought , my son Jake and I decided to go keep Rt company in Oregon  for a couple weekends . long story short , there wasn't much over planning. We blew out Friday and headed for land unlnown. On the way down Jake and I where saying any elk with horns was in trouble . We  stated the morning on day one where Rt had some bulls on camera . good wind blowing down the draw so we worked up a spine through some burnt timber. We had seen fresh tracks and pee going up the hill  so just figured we stay on them in till we heard or saw elk . I ripe a couple bugles with no response and  cow called our way up. we crossed a old skid road that Kurt knew about and planned to cut in and out of draws calling along the way. we started to move and I let out a few estrus calls and this fella was on us in a heart  beat . Busted in the open , with lighting like instinct I nocked a arrow and  drew . I heard Kurt say move  as I was blocking his angle one branch in the way but after a split second of geometry I figured it would clear and Mr bull was looking  like he was gonna depart the zip code . the arrow flew true and buried to the fletch from a frontal entry .  it was more than he could pack and after a trail that took us further than I could have expected  ie one mile ish of pure red paint there he lay piled up in his tracks . I worked on quarter and boning out while Jake and Kurt headed out for some four wheel support.  by noon we had him on ice . Honesty I really wish Kurt or Jake would have got the shot but all in all it was a great time spent with a good buddy and my son. next weekend  I won't have a bow and maybe  they will connect. We where very close on night one also but inside of a hundred yards the wind shifted and busted  us.  all a tune up for Blanchards bull hunt in weeks to follow.
My wife told me that I hunt way more than I did when we first got married. I said yeah I know isn't it great !

Awesome bull Grats.
"When my bow falls, so shall the world. When me heart ceases to pump blood to my body, it will all come crashing down. As a hunter, we are bound by duty, nay, bound by our very soul to this world. When a hunter dies we feel it, we sense it, and the world trembles with sorrow. When I die, so shall the world, from the shock of loosing such a great part of ones soul." Ezekiel, Okeanos Hunter
