Hunt wa search function
« on: August 29, 2016, 09:23:34 PM »
Why is it so  hard to find stuff on Huntwa? Why aren't my search results sorted by most recent? is there something I am doing wrong?
It's nearly worthless to get a bunch of old posts.
please post a better way if there is one- thanks!

In the "Search Order" option select "Most Recent Topics First."

Thanks! I see that works for the  search button that is under my avatar.
What about the search bar that is on the upper far right?

If you click on that one you need to then go to "advanced search" in order to get all the options.

I've found it's easier to use Google.  Haven't searched anything here in quite some time, but the search function never worked well IMO.

The other thing I've found is if you know the specific board the information you're looking for is in, go to that board, then use the search function. It will pick just from that board.
It's not perfect for sure, but like Bone said, it's free.

" In today's instant gratification society, more and more pressure revolves around success and the measurement of one's prowess as a hunter by inches on a score chart or field photos produced on social media. Don't fall into the trap. Hunting is-and always will be- about the hunt, the adventure, the views, and time spent with close friends and family. " Ryan Hatfield

I've found that if the search here doesn't work then google something like: Hunting-washington+forum+Campmeat+ Burningman will bring up anything the forum specific search missed.

This is common on most forums.

But seriously is there a thread on how to use the search function? I did try searching it and it's almost all telling people go use it lol maybe I can get my wife to look for me she understands the internet better than I.

Best way I have found to search hunt-wa is using google's site search function.

For example, take a look at the search query ("search function site:http://hunting-washington.com/smf/") at the link below.

https://www.google.com/search?q=search+function+site%3Ahttp%3A%2F%2Fhunting-washington.com%2Fsmf%2F

The first result (this thread) seems most useful.

As noted in this thread, you can search a particular board.

Also note that it appears that google does not index off-topics, because that is a private board.

Cross-posting the above in that thread.
