The crunch is on getting antsy
« on: September 11, 2016, 08:39:15 PM »
Spent the last few days sighting in the rifles getting the gear packed picking a new spot to try in case they do not open chiwawa. Still need to load some more ammo. And get some grub. 5 am weenies day can't come soon enough. My son slash hunting partner may be a little behind. But he's got tomorrow off. Good luck to all you hardy hunters that brave the heights of our lovely state.

Skyvalhunter,

Before you - and presumably others, get too excited about marching up LG, you might want to check the FS's closure map.

Yes. LG=Little Giant.

Given the scope of the Buck Creek / Saul closure (not to mention the Entiat!), it's definitely going to displace the High Buck guys to other areas.  Some of them might be tempted to try going into the Napeequa or Boulder even though the White River road closure adds mileage to an already considerable haul.

:bdid:

That would be one of those monumentally stupid errors in judgment I've alluded to in past High Buck posts.

Why?  I know for a fact that the usual crews are already camped/spiked out in the Butterfly, upper Napeequa and High Pass areas sitting behind the big glass...with at least one more going in tonight ( ;) )and even more guys scheduled for later this week into Boulder.  I hope the Napeequa and Boulder drainages won't turn out to be an even worse zoo due to the fire closure displacement than they have been in recent years.  Some people only learn the hard way.

What a jungle tons of good sign if you don't mind still hunting there is deer in there just not for us. It was fun though.

Wow. Way to give up a guy's high hunt spot.

I gave up nothing.  It was a courtesy. Re-read his post, then my post, then the quote embedded in your post.

I simply didn't want Sky's (and other's) dreams/plans crushed if he drove up the Chiwawa and saw the closure signage, and then have to make alternative plans at the last second without his friends or family possibly not knowing his general whereabouts.

Don't want to hijack this thread but what and how do you make your own energy bars?
