Scenario question.
« on: September 29, 2016, 12:51:42 PM »
You're on the Eastside on archery opener. You park at the beginning of a well maintained 4x4 trail and follow in. About 500 yards in you start going up hill and at the crest of the hill you see a bull elk with about 20 cows. This is a true spike or antler less unit and the bull is not a true spike. The hill continues down to a saddle then goes up hill again to another hill top. The elk are crossing over the saddle from left to right in front of you. The bull is below you to the left about 120 yards and the closest cow is 100 yards, which is the lead cow that heard something when you crouched down but as of now none of the elk know you're around. Your hunting partner is behind you 10 yards. Cow elk are on the other hill top across for you, to your right, and your left. How would you approach this situation to be successful in taking a cow. Also your bow is only sighted out to 60 yards.

Try and flank opposite the bull. Chances are. The wind is carrying down to him . or back off and let the bull make a move . once he is with them you can skip in and lost calf call .
My wife told me that I hunt way more than I did when we first got married. I said yeah I know isn't it great !
