As I said a few times, congrats to your daughter and to you too, Rick. Just wanted to share this exchange I had with Rick's daughter texting me on her dad's phone while he was driving to the cabin Friday night. There was a lot of joking around about her needing a pet rabbit and stuff, but then she got down to business. I thought you folks would like this exchange. I'm the green messages and she's the gray ones.

I am a pretty positive guy and I try to pass that on to my kids.  The "never give up" thing is 100% her.  I went to parent's night at school when she was 8 and they had a collage of pictures and stuff cut out of magazines that they related to.  Dead center in the collage was the saying "never give up", she really does believe it.  She could have easily given up after the first or second miss but she didn't, she just wanted to know "how many more bullets do we have?"

I am really lucky guy there is no doubt about that.  I am sure she will succeed at whatever she does in life.

That's awesome!!!  We are having our first child come February and it's a girl; so I can't wait to get her out hunting and fishing with me.

Well done to you both. You are doing it right dad. I do think she deserves a pet bunny for doing such a great job.

Congratulations to you and your Daughter!  These are the moments all of us Dads look forward to.  I can't wait for my kids to start hunting.  My 8 year old daughter has recently asked me if she can take hunters safety and start shooting the bigger guns.   My 4 year old son is already excited about huntin someday!  Went out and got him all outfitted with camo and boots last week.  I can't wait!!

I love the way it is now and anybody that tries to change it has to come through me.

Sweet! The kids with animals are the best thing going
To hunt and butcher an animal is to recognize that meat is not some abstract form of protein that springs into existence tightly wrapped in cellophane and styrofoam.

I will, she knows you are the one that saved her shoulder.  When we were sighting it in she did want to know if she did something wrong.  I said "no, why do you ask?"  She said "The gun last year didn't have all that smoke."  :chuckle:

It's really a wonder we saw any deer that morning, from the time we left the cabin until the first shot all she wanted to do was talk about rabbits.  :dunno:   Weird.
