Beaver Problem
« on: October 13, 2016, 02:29:20 PM »
I have a major beaver problem by my house and need some help so I figured I would throw out a couple questions.

1. If I have a beaver problem do I need to call WDFW to come out and look at the problem and have them recommend a trapper?
2. When does the season open, can someone just come out once the season opens and trap them?

I am located in Cowlitz County close to Castle Rock.

I live on a private road and the beaver pond is on private property, they are constantly plugging culverts that I am cleaning out and the last two days I had to cut trees out of the road on my way to work.

WDFW will not come out and look at it, they don't care.  They don't do anything like that.

What you can do is call them and ask them for some "WCO's" (Wildlife Control Operators) names and phone numbers that are in your area that trap beaver.  Just understand that these people are in Business and charge for their service.  (Don't ask me what they charge every Business charges different)

Beaver Season starts November first for any licensed fur trapper.  The bad thing is beaver fur / skins are almost worthless these days so it might be pretty hard to find a trapper to come down your way to trap for the fur.  You might be better off to contact a WCO.  Good luck

I did find a trapper local, and the wdfw gave me a damage permit to remove them. Thanks everyone for the help.
