« on: October 23, 2016, 09:29:30 AM »
so how was the muzzy big bull permits? Did you score on a bull? Where they still rutting? The location where I was at archery it was HOT with rut activity. Just wondering if Muzzy season was the same.

I'm still trying to figure out how to reply to questions on my post /  those of others..
For GMU's 328 and 329, there were a total of 9 quality bull tabs. I came across only two other similar tag holders. I know, a large area but still anticipated seeing more of the tag holders than I did. At the Mile High camp site off Colockum rd., there was a very nice 5x in camp. That's the only other harvested bull I saw.

I hunted out of riders camp for my daughters observatory  quality muzzy tag.  There was 6 other tag holders staying there and all of them ate their tags.  I found it interesting that the tag holders in camp didn't hunt the last few days of the permit.  Those were the best days to hunt because they were after the regular season ended.  My daughter connected on a very nice 6x6.  The elk she harvested was still bugling and raking trees.  I would say the elk were still really activelly rutting.  We hunted a total of 3 days and say elk on 2 of the 3 days.  I'm guessing people need to get off there quads and dirt bikes and hunt more in the timber.  Taylor shot her elk at 1:30 in the afternoon.  I will be posting a story on her hunt in a few days when I get some time.  I will say though it has a main beam of 60".

Hey riverrun were you camped in manastash campground?  I heard there was a 6x6 someone harvested that was staying there.  Just curious if it was you.

Actually i was at Manastash campground opening weekend. I know of the 6 point you are talking about. I didn' t see it but heard the shot and heard about it over my radio Saturday. Also saw a spike taken and a 5 point that was shot late Sat. afternoon. The 5 point was shot by a young girl. Her dad and her were heading back in Sunday to try and find her elk . Hope they found it. He thought it was hit a little far back but they had a blood sign. I had a bull located a week before season, went in opening morning and another hunter was in my spot. Monday went into a area i know lower in the unit and connected with this guy at 11:00 am. Called him in. . I would love to here about your  daughters bull. Congratulations to her!

That was me and my daughter.  Yes we did recover that bull.  It was just a little bigger than I thought.  I just wish I would have taken more pictures.
