From the previous comments, I'm guessing the issue is tresspass?

One might thing, but we should all speculate, claim to know someone who was there, claim to know the WDFW officers who served the warrant, maybe even claim to have been there ourselves.  Let's not let anything stop us from speculating and trying the whole lot right here online.

Please, quit dancing around the story folks, get to the claims, speculation, declarations and entertainment!  The Bullwinkle thread has been quiet for far too long!

Was just curious because the hunter is a friend and my butcher, guess I'll call him tomorrow.

Well seeing as how I have reason to suspect 'Landowner' is some kinda local landowner and dude with sheds is a local landowner's (unrelated) grandson...tag.
100% speculation.

Better yet. Can we speculate as to who the "buddy" was that called em from notellum ridge to say where the bull was? A local "guide" for hire perhaps?
Seriously though...Probably all on the up and up and it's all a giant hoax.

Word in Columbia County is that the cape for this bull elk is now in possession of WDFW Enforcement.....

Don't know about the cape, but the antlers definitely are.

It will be interesting to see where this particular matter ends up, whatever the facts and issues are.  But set  aside for a minute whatever it involves and consider a more general and non-specific point.

A general issue that gets discussed on H-W a lot is property rights and rules.  Most are fundamental and common sense principles.  And most hunters are very respectful of those principles.  Before I venture onto my neighbor's property, or your property, I get permission or I won't step onto it.  It's common sense and it's the law.   Because of that,  the so called "local" and other purported "guides" and permit holders who venture into the Blues should not lose their minds in pursuing big game and shed hunting quests.  There are a lot of eyes and ears out there---and of course we now have the live and wireless relay cameras.  And other common photo cameras.

It's an honor to get drawn for a much sought after permit.   Have a good time, enjoy the hunt, but don't let the pursuit of the animal cloud good judgment.   Certain things are just not going to be tolerated by those who don't play by the rules.

What a bummer.  Hopefully it was a simple mistake of where they were or thought they were.

Why would the WDFW take these antlers but not the Bullwinkle antlers?  :dunno:
Pain is temporary, achieving the goal is worth it.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.
