Would be very very cool if you ever got a viable population you could actually harvest a few.
If you shoot the first one you will never get that true trophy.

Well I think I'm about done for the season. The snow has made it difficult to hit all my cat lines plus I sold a few of my cages anyhow. I figured I'd try for some civets and I ended up with one yesterday but I am going to pull those sets as well and try a few different ideas that make them less likely to spray.
Should mention that dinner tonight was my wife's homemade " trapper's pie"! She took some beaver sausage and put corn, peas, carrots and green beans ( the canned stuff called veg-all) and mixed it with brown gravy and topped it with seasoned mashed potatoes. Tasted awesome!

So, are you going to tell the story about showing up at my house with the live skunk in the back of your pickup. :chuckle:

I didn't intend on it being perfectly awake!
 :chuckle:
Yeah, so when I put the skunk in my tub and gassed it took a while to finally go motionless and barely breathing. After a few minutes I figured it was good enough to put the lid on tight and more than likely he'd be dead when I got to Bruce's which is just a few miles down the road. Well when I got there and took the lid off he was 100% alive!  :yike: We ended up gassing it again and luckily no smell occurred but that was close for sure!

I got word the other day that a beaver had showed up and rebuilt the dam at the problem spot I'd trapped in December and so I set a two traps to see if I could fix the flooding problem before the season is over. Thing is, the dam wasn't really rebuilt. All that happened was enough sticks had floated down from the heavy rain and I figured I'd leave the traps there for a few days and see what happens. Well I went today to grab the traps and got some fur. Not a beaver though! Pretty happy because otter was the one fur I really wanted this year. Good way to end the season.
