So I am scheduled to take a beginning blacksmithing class on 10th and 11th of June with John Huffstutter at Quailside Forge.  Pretty excited to take the class.

So the other night I'm watching Forged in Fire, "Fan Favorites" TV show, and low and behold the guy who won on the show is the same guy I bought my Anvil from.  Very cool!  It was David Roeder in Kennewick, WA.  I have some tongs and a hammer.  Still looking to get a couple more hammers in the 2 to 2.5 pound range and a forge.

That's cool, I saw that episode as well. Im still searching for a anvil. Out here they are so spendy in the Midwest they go for so much less. Our family friend is going back that and got a killer deal on one last trip he went out there. So I am hoping he can find me something good and haul it home. If not I have a 100lber picked out that will work.

That thing is a beast for sure.

This is the one I think if our friend does not find one or I pick one up before to long.

With their first time discount puts it to my door for 530.00. I like the big work face and as I am more getting into blades and cutting stuff without a hole bunch of steel to pound. I think it would do good for me.

Anything that gets ya working steel is good. You won't be disappointed with centaur forge.
I was thinking about the NC Calvary with the turning cams.  may still order it for smaller work like blades but hammers is what lights me up

I to need a small furnace. I'm no artist but I did work in the industry for 10 years. I'm kinda wondering if I'm to soft but get me some heat and I'll give it a try.

Very green :chuckle: I'm JACKED. Still going to have our family friend see about finding me a big girl in the Midwest but I got all I need now. Wasn't planning on using a old school forge but may have to teach myself and play with it. For the price I paid for this monster lot I could not say no :chuckle:

Yes it will need a spring if you don't want to move it by hand :chuckle:, the jaws open and close. From what I have read any spring steel can be used to make a replacement. If a guy wants to use one. I was just going to use it as is. I'm pretty sure they would not be to hard to make looking at the designs of them online but I did note that in the listing now.
