RL17 for me as well, and another +1 for the American Predator. These rifles are a lot more capable than the price tag implies.

guts, the saying that the 6.5 C is the 260 done right refers mostly to the slightly shorter cartridge giving more room for long heavy bullets in short action magazines. It's not just shortened though; the case is "improved" slightly so the difference in capacity compared to the 260 is small, and actual velocity capability is pretty close between the two rounds.

The 260ai is the 260 done right. The magazine in the short action is where failure occurred.

I've killed more than a dozen elk now with the 6.5's. They work well. ****BUT**** you must respect the fact that it's not a magnum. That arss to tea kettle shot that you can take with your .338 won't work here. You,will pass up shots because of the guns limitations.

With that said, I've had more bang flops with my 6.5's than all of my other guns combined. The 300rum which I've taken a bunch of elk with has not netted me the same results. I suspect it's due to the bullet choices, but it is what it is.

As for range. The gun has it to take a perfect shot to your range and beyond....but you have to do your job and make sure you pilot it correctly.

What bullet you using?

Some serious bang for the buck! Is the Ruger American Predator in 6.5 Creedmoor. Mid weight barrel and accurate right out of the box. I have spent ALLOT of money on custom rifles. When I kept reading post after post on many shooting forums on how well they shot I had to try one out. I picked one up and shot 600 rounds through it in less than a month or so with a wide variety of hand loads. It was a solid 3/4 MOA rifle across the bored and hovered more towards the 1/2 MOA mark. The kicker $369.00 bucks.

Other than the Carsons cheek piece and muzzle brake I added the rifle is factory.

1st row 100 yards
2nd 200 yards
3rd 300 yards

300 yards.

Wait a second, is that a Vortex scope on that rifle? What happened to you while you were off on sabbatical? Next will be a picture of a Tikka. Something isn't right here..... :tinfoil:

I HATED Vortex when they first came out, they were crap! I had a friend tell me they had improved quite a bit in 8 years or so. So I purchased three of them. While the turrets have adjusted well, they have the clarity of looking through a coke bottle at distance! Their razors may be clear but the Viper line in my opinion isn't as good as Leupold but on par with their price range I guess.

As for Tikka! :bdid:

After a little drilling, filing and hacksaw action.....we finally have a finished product. 6.5 creedmoor is ready for the next stage...barrel break-in. This rifle is going to be a dear, elk and bear smack'n machine.

👍👍👍

Let me know how the Hornady factory 143gr EDL-X's shoot through that if you shoot any. I have a friend that has flat dialed in a load for his 6.5CM Ruger Predator. His rifle is amazingly accurate with the Hornady 143gr ELD-X.

This is a 3 shot 200 yard group with the 143gr ELD-X.

Thats odd about the issues you've had with Vortex, I have 2 Viper Scopes, a pair of Viper Binos, a pair of Diamondback Binos,  and hopefully a spotter to join in upcoming months, and I love all of them, just as clear, if not clearer, as any other optics I've ever looked through, that's why they have so much of my money!

That is the one box of factory ammo I bought so I will let you know.  I have read a little on the ELD-X bullet and am a little worried about the overall performance on game.  Any one out there killed with these bulltes and what was the performance like?

My first loads will be with Nosler accubonds 140 gr.  Depending on how they perform, I may look at the bergers.
