Elkton cooler experiences?
« on: May 17, 2017, 10:01:35 PM »

Elkton Outdoors
50 Quart Hunting & Fishing Cooler Ice Chest / (30L x 16.5W x 17H) / Extra Wide Drain Plug / Freezer Gasket Seal / Boat Cooler / Fishing Cooler / Outdoor Cooler / Insulated Cooler

Has anyone used one of these?
They are on sale on amazon right now. I am seriously considering picking one up. Good experiences with these?
See here:
 https://www.amazon.com/Hunting-Fishing-Freezer-Outdoor-Insulated/dp/B01N8RL68B/ref=sr_1_1?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1495083159&sr=1-1&keywords=elkton+outdoors+cooler

I found it listed in a best cooler review article, but I don't 100% trust these kinds of articles. It's hard to tell if they are getting kickbacks for positive reviews.

I decided to go ahead and pick one up.
It has been delivered and I'm going to test it to see how it stacks up against some cheaper coolers that I have.
I put all of them in a room together and put a thermometer and one bag of ice in each.
I'll check them every 12 hours and record ice meltage and temperature.
Kind of wish I knew someone with a higher end model so I could compare against those or even better had one of my own.
Going clockwise in the phote, the white one is the new elkton, then a cheap coleman, then an igloo icecube (this one is actually pretty good for keeping things cold), and the red one is another coleman.
I'll post results when the test is done.
