Suicide? Wow. I think Eddie Vedder is the only original lead singer left from the first big grunge bands.

I think Jerry Cantrell and the rest of the guys in Alice In Chains might disagree........

As someone who had a lot of friends who were big in the Northwest music scene leading up to the 1990's the entire grunge scene impressed me as one big morass wherein depression is wallowed in and celebrated.

Not that that wallowing and celebrating depression was an unknown commodity among musicians before that time, but my God man that grunge stuff impressed me as a little more than hanging out with an entire cadre of nothing but Joe Btfsplk.

I had friends and acquaintances who were in The Allies, The Heats, The Range Hoods, The Cowboys, No Cheese Please, The Srypes, The Blue Baboons and other bands that were popular on the Seattle music scene and had met most of the early grunge rockers and they were definitely a buzz kill.

At 45 years old and from the Seattle / Aberdeen area in high school he and Cobain along with the other grunge rock labeled music scene peers were in my wheelhouse and had great influence on me.   I feel for his kids, family, and friends.

It's strange that so many of "The Greats" suffer from depression and kill themselves. It's not just music but comedians and other performers.

I'm sure I speak for many that it's baffeling that those who are the pinnacle of succes choose to off themselves, or even do so by overdosing.

He battled with bad depression
It very sad to see that someone reaches a point of that much darkness in their life to take their own life.
His wife said he had takin a couple extra pills of his anxiety meds which causes those type of thoughts to increase
Very sad

It is baffling.
In cc case that was part of the appeal of his music as dealing with such things and it helped many people

The fact that his music helped people with depression boggles my mind. I would never listen to his stiff if I was in a bad mood.

I also find it amazing that the one guy who spoke his mind and was critical catches a bunch of grief. I don't care about Curt Cobaine, Robin Williams, or this guy either because they are dead and as such not worth my time. I doubt any of these folks realized how much pain they were going to cause their friends, family and those they influenced. I feel sorry for those people, mostly because they now suffer and search for answers.

Congratulations guys, 2 topics about the same subject have both gone down the drain

I think huntwa needs a good cleansing and get back to its roots.
To hunt and butcher an animal is to recognize that meat is not some abstract form of protein that springs into existence tightly wrapped in cellophane and styrofoam.

One of his interviews he kind of explains as his song writing is how he felt at a certain time and if only one person said I understand what you're feeling because that person is in the same place and the song only made sense to that person then Chris felt as if he was not all that crazy to feel that and  thousands of people felt the same way hearing the lyrics
