Wow......
A bit of buck fever. Notice the attempt to draw and release.

And for those that think being armed with a firearm in that situation would have made a difference. Doubtful. He was attempting to hunt it with the bow, Would have had to have the handgun up and ready to have made any attempt at a shot.
I was charged by a cow moose from close distance last spring. Let me tell you it happens FAST. Faster than I could draw my .44

Watch the full video, the bear knew he was there and was exhibiting predatory behavior.  My handgun would have been at high ready bow laying on the ground before the charge began.

Something similar happened to club member @luckyman while hunting with a bow. If I remover correctly he made a better shot and came away with only dirty cotten.

In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.

This was in Canada.   It's pretty tough to own a sidearm for self defense up North.

What was the bear doing that was 'predatory'?  Just curious because I don't know, and be nice to know for future reference.

This made me actually laugh out loud!

In seriousness though that's kind of scary. I used to carry when archery hunting but haven't in a few years. Makes you think a little.

Predatory black bears (almost all are large males) tend to come at you in an indirect way, not stare directly at you, not come in a direct straight line but sort of "wander" towards you then bam, they attack when close enough.  If the bear was confused as to what the hunter was, or wasn't predatory, he'd be standing, sniffing, blowing, huffing, popping and all that jazz.  This bear knew what he was and came in like a predator bear.

I wonder if the bear was following the man's scent... that is what Luckyman said it appeared like when he encountered his.

If that were the case then I would have had my gun out when the bear was still way down the road, any bear tracking me is getting shot.

We have no way of knowing that in this vid though.  All I could do is see the wind was swirling and breezy by the silencers on the bow wiggling.  The bear clearly knew where the man was and seen him way off and came in anyways, it didn't even pause before it launched into a charge and attack.  A surprised bear would pause and access, then flee or bluff then flee.  They usually turn their head as if telegraphing their intent to flee.  This one did none of those things.
