930 SPX Reliability
« on: May 26, 2017, 10:21:50 AM »
Hey guys I recently took out my new 930 SPX to the range. I did a lot of research and heard these things tend to be 90% reliable +/- from factory. So I wanted to follow the normal break-in procedure for these guns of about 100 rounds. so I brought 50 target, 50 game and about 50 various slugs, buck and 3". The shotgun was about 95% reliable, had one failure to eject and a couple failed to chamber and got stuck just outside of the mag tube all with the cheap stuff. The slugs, buck and 3" all seemed to work fine I cant remember those having any problems.

anyways overall I'm please but I heard there's a couple easy cheap upgrades that really make a difference in these guns (especially with light loads). Both from OR3GUN, one is an upgraded spacer tube and the others an upgraded follower.

http://www.or3gun.com/OR3GUN/about_or3gun_marine.htm

anyone have any experience with these guys? are they worth it? I'm wanting this shotgun to be primarily home defense NOT competition. they offer a spacer that's the same weight as the stock one just a better one but I don't know if its worth the $50.

I don't know anything about this mod, but overall in competition the JM Pro930 (AKA Jamb Pro) is one of the most unreliable shotguns out there. If this thing works its worth it.

Well I sent a email to or3gun asking them about their mod and what my uses are. I also found a nickel boron piston on Mossbergs web sight that's for the JM pro. I figure between that, the spacer and the follower I may find the sweet spot. I asked or3gun about the piston as well. My hope is to make this gun run a high round count without cleaning and still function. End of the world reliability in other words. I'll wait wait to hear back and order accordenly. I'll let you know what I find. Thanks guys
