Kitty?
« on: June 01, 2017, 08:03:02 PM »
Found this and some other old looking ones in an area I like to frequent for elk . Any Ideas? I thought cat but maybe a porcupine? There is also some saplings around that have beaver looking nibbles on them , but there is definetly no beavers or large bodies of water near by . It was still sopping wet when I stumbled across it , like I interrupted whatever was doing it .

The bears will typically peel from ground level 2 to 3 ish ft up the tree.  I'm guessing if you looked around you would see more.  If not yet, there will be soon.

100% a bear. They peel the bark with their claws then scrape the tree with their teeth to get all the sap and goodies under the bark. That is a small  one , I've seen them 20-30 feet up but typically they are 4-8 feet tall.
