I am having a half mount done with mine, when talking with the taxidermist a full mount is like adding a love seat to your living area, half mount I will be able to hang on the wall and take up less floor space.

What are you thinking for a mount if you get a nice goat with good hair? Are you going to do a shoulder or a half or full body mount?

Well....that's a tough one at this point. Shoulder pedestal is what I'm thinking, but we're gearing up for a new house, so the goat may end up euro'd for now with the cape taxidermy tanned. Once we get the new place, then decide on the mount so I know which way I want it facing, form, etc. Hopefully that makes sense.

Yeah it does indeed.

Something I've put a lot of time into thinking about. I think I'm good from a gear standpoint. I do worry a little about early season snow, but maybe I'm overthinking it.
you should be fine on that end, cold glassing sessions would be more my worry

It's getting so close! Thanks for all the pictures Jackelope. Good to know these goat tags really exist
Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.

I've looked at a few full body mounts. They're really big. I mean...enormous. I don't have near the room for that.

Good luck Jackelope!

As far as mounts go for me I think a goat rug is about as cool as they come! Also the most flexible as far as displaying, but there are lots of options, just thought id throw that into the mix as its not as popular as a half or full mount.

Actually thought real hard about a rug. If I kill a goat and the conditions are right, I might skin him out for a rug. We'll see where he's at and what kind of hair he's got when I put my hands on him and go from there.
It's a consideration for sure.

Thanks for all the kind words and good wishes. I can't believe it's so close to happening.

Friend here in Sitka has a mountain goat rug.  Really cool, can be moved easily, put away easily or displayed in several ways.

Good luck Josh, look forward to following your hunt.

Not yet...waiting on hair to grow. I want an abominable snowman looking goat.
