A little motivational talk from the past as a refresher for you.  "Never give up"

As I said a few times, congrats to your daughter and to you too, Rick. Just wanted to share this exchange I had with Rick's daughter texting me on her dad's phone while he was driving to the cabin Friday night. There was a lot of joking around about her needing a pet rabbit and stuff, but then she got down to business. I thought you folks would like this exchange. I'm the green messages and she's the gray ones.

Pain is temporary, achieving the goal is worth it.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.

Every father should remember that one day his children will follow his example instead of his advice.

Hot damn. I loved that conversation with the kid.

Absolutely!
We must reject the idea that every time a law's broken, society is guilty rather than the lawbreaker. It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his actions.

Just came back from an amazing First hunting weekend in the goat rocks. Intended to stay another day but Mother Nature had other ideas. Hiked in Friday night a few miles in the dark and set up camp with fillthefreezer. Got up Saturday morning to socked in views of nothing and rain/snow. With no visibility we sat tight till about noon.  Decided to take a walk and fill out water bladders at least. Ended up running into s couple hikers who said they saw some goats a couple miles up the trail so  we decided to go for it and see if we could turn them up. We eventually found them but no big billy in the group. It was cool to see them and I was relieved to discover they’re not completely invisible in a snow covered environment. Had them at 150 yards but the little billy was just too young so we let him walk. Headed back to camp in a white out with I don’t know how hard the wind was blowing but it was pretty dang hard. Our quick walk to fill up our water supply ended up 7.5 miles RT. Made it back to camp only to find my tent crushed under a crap ton of wet snow. Here’s a few pics.

We turned in for the night only to have to clear snow buildup from the tent 4-5 times during the night. Woke up this morning and found zero visibility and it wouldn’t stop snowing. Gave it a few hours and with no improvement we packed it in a day early and made for the Blue Spruce and a welcome bacon cheeseburger and a couple IPA’s.

Sorry for not posting pics of a dead billy. Hopefully the bacon cheeseburger gets you by until my next update. What a great time in the mountains. Can’t thank fillthefreezer enough. He’s an animal in the mountains.

I've been patiently waiting for this hunt to unfold. Following along. Hopefully the weather will open up this week for you.

DIY hunts are awesome. The memories will last a lifetime, especially knowing you earned it the old fashioned way.

Thanks for sharing.
