Get up there ASAP and put in as much time as possible scouting. A few other threads about adjoining units have highlighted how bad the mule deer herd is doing up around the Methow. I was up there a few weeks ago did some hiking and was astonished at how few mule deer are around compared to years ago. On the other hand saw plenty of whitetail down low. Either way, get after it now and be aggressive. This is an unfortunate year to have that tag. If you have any specific questions about the unit feel free to PM me.

A cousin of mine had the tag last year and ate it. Couldn't find anything worth shooting. It's still a great unit though. put on miles and cover ground.

What side of the unit did they hunt or focus on.. I've heard some pretty promising things coming in from the south end. Guy I worked with had a late white tail tag for pearygin an he hunted what I believe is the border road from concully to Winthrop an said he saw quite a few nice Muleys ...

Unfortunately I have to agree with the "bad news" side of this topic and the Methow deer numbers in general. Numbers are the worst I have seen in the 50 plus years I have been chugging around there. During our late fall/early winter scouting I could not believe the reduction in numbers over previous years. As others have said its a tough year to draw tags in the Methow and will be for awhile I,m afraid. That being said, get in there and hunt hard and you may bump into one, good luck.
