Discount tire online sales? Plus a couple brand questions
« on: July 28, 2017, 03:04:31 PM »
Well didn't think about buying tires online until I was told the tires I wanted today would run 2100 plus tax and etc.

So checked out discount tire. Seems like some great prices. Have you used them? I would love feedback.

Also a couple brands I have never run. I was hoping for some feedback on them.

Cooper and Falken. Both there a/t 3 designs. Both have 50k plus warrentys on them.

I would for sure buy the replacement plan they offer, if I bought them.

Thanks for any feedback.

I run the Cooper AT3 on my truck and am very happy with them. I have a Chev 2500hd.
My boss runs the same exact 10 ply tire on his 1/2 ton and gets 70k a set out of them.

Cooper for my 1500. Have about 50k on them the past year and will hit 65-70 most likely.

Happy with the coopers on my land cruiser. Seem to be wearing well for a heavy pig.

Ive just bought a set of 5 Falken Wildpeak ATW3 in 35X12.50s.  They have a 55,000 warranty.  Should arrive in a few days. I have heard good things about them so I thought I would put them on the kids Jeep and see how they hold out.  I am partial to BF Goodrich AT tires.  But those I will put on my truck.

Been dealing with Disscount for alot of years. Always good service. Put the Cooper AT on the suburban. Not sure how many miles on them but wearing good. Bought for 50,000 mile warranty as well. They have sales usually on the big three day weekends of the year.

Cooper tire is an American company that makes lots of private label tires for names like Les Schwab and Big O for certain sizes. FALKEN is a Sumitomo Brand based out of Japan.

I don't have personal experience with either tire.

Tires are application specific for best performance. It's always difficult to make a good comment with no info.
Tire size rig what the use of the rig etc are all important information.

Prices seem to vary wildly depending on the size. I've seen mounted sets of tires on wheels of a more common size for the same price as just the Rubber for an 18" wheel pickup tire. Your stock spare tire is often the most affordable size your rig will fit.

Tires require service if you order them online. Either you have to mount them yourself, which can be expensive if you screw up with the TPMS gear most new rigs have, or take them some place. And most tire shops will send you packing  if you show up with online bought tires. Free flat repairs ,rotations and such are paid for though new tire sales so don't expect someone to take care of the competitors tires.

You could have them mounted up at a used tire shop or one of the online preferred installers, but I don't know anyone who has done that.

Sweet thanks all. That's the kind of info I am looking for. Looking like I will grab the coopers from all the great feedback from you guys.

special T  that is indeed my case. I can buy a new set of 17" wheels and tires for way less then just buying the tires to fit the blasted 20" wheels that are on this bighorn edition dodge.

If I grab a set of 17" wheels new from schwabs they will mount them up any tires that I bring in to go onto the new wheel is my understanding. Plus all the guys in here get killer gun deals so they don't want to send me packing :chuckle: No more gun deals :chuckle:

Check walmart (unless you don't like walmart) but I price compared locally and on-line and they were cheaper by a couple hundred bucks (yes, evendors compared to discount tire). I was comparing the cooper stt pros size 170/70-17.

Im buying tires from tirebuyer.com this week, free shipping to their installers, Firestone is one of their installers, they have the cheapest rates I can find after installation.

Im trying to decide on the St Maxx by Cooper and the falken wildpeak At3.

Both are right about 1000$ for 4 in a 295/70r18, or equivalent size.

I did take a look they were pretty close just a little more at walmart.

Looks like they have one of the sets of wheels I was looking at to. So if I am reading things right they will mount and balance for free. If I buy wheels and tires at the same time and ship to my house for free.

Ford dealer beat their price for me so I bought a set of 17" KMOs for my dog truck last fall. $180 each, E rated. Bought the KM2's for $190 ea for my F-350. Mount balance free and had an oil change for $100 at same time.
