Well, I spoke too soon. My onxmaps has failed me once again, I made the mistake of not downloading all my maps when my app finally worked properly for a couple days. I am now having the same exact issues as before. To make matters worse I made the gutsy choice to delete the app and re load as it worked previously. NOPE!! I actually made it worse due to me choosing to delete the few larger scale maps I saved.So now I have NOTHING and one of my last scouting trips before season kicks off is tomorrow. I have my gps with the chip but now I have to find the time tonight to make all my plans match up from google earth to my gps. Still beats the map days though.

Seems to be downloading ok now although you still can't turn layers on or off but at least I will know where I am.  I'm madly dashing to get my unit downloaded for maybe the 5th time.

Definitely frustrating. New features are nice if you can use them.

Ya. If I hunted out of state it would be beneficial. At this point I'm thinking of deleting, only a few weeks before season and a few days before bear on the wet side and I can't use my app.

Anyone having any luck with there onxmaps app? I've had nothing but issue after issue. This last Saturday morning I checked my app at 4am before I left my house, by some miracle I could now save maps. I thought oh sweet Jesus I better save my maps now while I actually can. Postponed leaving for one of my last scouting trips before season to save all my maps again, quite a few believe it or not as I hunt both sides of WA now. So this delays me prob 2hrs realistically, I check my offline mode and it's working fine time to get outa town. I start to lose service so I put my phone in airplane mode and open my app. Now in offline mode it crashes the second I try to zoom in to actually see anything. Complete frustration and irritation, I put it off as I don't want anything to negatively affect my time in the woods, I get out my Garmin with onx chip, I scout the rest of the day. I reach out to onxmaps yet again to let these issues be known, I got a sorry for your frustrations and to wait for the update. Great!!! Finally got a notice for an update........ FIXED NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!! Are you kidding me. Also found out that I have to send my regional chip in because they discontinued them and I can't update the chip. I will be waiting till after my hunting seasons. Good luck to all and sorry for the rant.

@onXmaps

They may see this...
:fire.:

" In today's instant gratification society, more and more pressure revolves around success and the measurement of one's prowess as a hunter by inches on a score chart or field photos produced on social media. Don't fall into the trap. Hunting is-and always will be- about the hunt, the adventure, the views, and time spent with close friends and family. " Ryan Hatfield

I've had correspondence with them a few times and there responses are we are aware of these issues and are working on them. Look for an update. Update fixed nothing. I bought the chip, pay for the app. Guess I expected too much. Gotta get your ducks in a row before releasing to the public. Now a ton of hunters will be affected negatively if they aren't able to figure out a backup plan. I know and understand things don't always go as planned and unforeseen things can be detrimental to product releases. Hope they do get things figured out because it's a great product IF it functions.

Sorry to hear man. Mine has been working fine , I did learn that in order to completely save a map I have to keep my phone from going into sleep mode. Not sure if that is a thing or not?

Hope you get it sorted....

Don't zoom, don't try to use layers, don't try to save offline maps.  In other words unless you are hunting in Starbucks you are in trouble.  I was the biggest fan but was burned bad.

I am very glad I always take and use a paper map.

I don't blame you. Definitely was a reminder to have backups and not become reliable on technology. I'm not a big tech guy. This app is the closest thing to social media I'll ever have. Don't lose touch with real life people.

My dedicated GPS with onboard maps has never failed me. Unfortunately onX is moving away from that as quickly as they can towards web based devices like cellular phones.

I just loaded it on my new android phone a few days ago & haven't had any trouble. That being said, if they get away from the chip that I can use in my computer & gps, I'll stop using it. I hate having to take my gloves off in the field to use a phone.
