Just got the email. Those won't last long! Why are people applying for multi season and not purchasing? Im guessing that's why there's leftovers

I would guess there are many reason people would apply and not buy it. They could have had a job change where they had to move out of the state. Health issues. Money got tight and they can't afford the $180. Work or family stuff came up and they can only devote the time to a single season. Or they didn't buy the mulit tag before the special permit drawings and drew a tag that they want to focus all of their efforts on.

I had to try four times to get mine this year.  First time computers were down.  Second time a shooting in Olympia has some kind of lockdown and no help available.  Third time I went on a Friday during business hours like the letter said....but WDFW changed things so that regular staff aren't in on Fridays and it is manned by the after hours crew.  The after hours crew can't void the earlier tag to allow you to buy the multi.  Fourth time actually worked and got the tag.

I'll be there early and ready! It is interesting that there are this high of a number of tags left. I wonder if some retail vendors are going to have lines forming like the opening day of a big movie?

Its Quite simple...  Look at the dates folks... You apply for multi season and draw.  You put in for both sides of the state....  Draw permit buy multi season....Don't draw permit don't buy multi season...

You have to purchase the multi season permit before you can apply for both sides of the state for elk. Just drawing it doesn't give you the option. You must buy it before  the permit application process.

 :yeah:

Also, with so many left over deer tags, are all of those because people drew but just didn't buy?

Did anybody who applied get a "NOT SELECTED" at time of the drawing?

Just curious if it was another short sale this year...

I was not selected on deer for the first time this year. Rather surprised at 3k of leftovers.

Yes a fair amount of people did not get selected for deer, including myself for the first time in a long time.

I put in for the multi-season deer each year and almost always never buy it.  This is because I put in for Wyoming every year.  Wyoming rifle deer is right during Washington's muzzle loader season.  If I don't draw Wyoming, then I buy the multi season license that I drew and hunt deer here with the muzzle loader and then later with my rifle.  If I draw Wyoming deer then I don't buy the multi season tag and hunt Wyoming rifle deer and Washington rifle deer later.  Just gives me options.

Yeah I got a "not selected" result right when the results came out.  I applied for both multi deer and elk.

Is this true?  the deadline to purchase is Aug. 1 or before.  Does the permit application require it be purchased prior to applying for both sides of state?

yeah, otherwise you only have a declared archery/muzzle/modern with E/W designation to apply for permits with.
