Any advice for Mt. Baker Highway Alpine Blacktail?
« on: September 03, 2017, 10:24:53 AM »
I've done quite a bit of scouting this summer with no actual sightings of bucks. The hot weather and smoke doesn't seem to be helping. I seem to see more sign down low than I do up high. Any advice on areas to check out for the modern season, pm's are ok too.

I live in Bellingham and have hunted the past two years with no luck on these critters. I've shot plenty of Sitka blacktail back home in Alaska but can't seem to connect on these ones.

Thanks for any help

There was a significant winter kill up there this year which is what you are more than likely experiencing. Combine that with the open slopes being severely dried up by the hot summer. Hopefully you have some lower elevation areas you can hunt this year.

Seems like all the animals are at lower elevations this year
