Switched to the dark side
« on: October 03, 2017, 08:04:44 AM »
Well I finally broke down and bought a ford (hopefully it doesn’t break down). After debating on the midsize trucks I decided something a little bigger would prove more useful and better suited for what we need. Looked at the Silverado 1500’s, they just didn’t do it for me like the Colorado’s did. The minute I sat in the new f-150 I knew it was going to be the one. The ride, comfort, and size were all there in the interior. Went with the 3.5L twin turbo ecoboost, and wow, what an awesome setup. Power when you want it, and fuel efficiency all other times haha. Found one a couple years old, one owner (old man owned) who traded it in because he wanted leather, saved me 15k and got everything I needed in it. There were minimal changes between the 15-17 model year trucks. So far I am super pleased, and hoping it continues that way.

So I also went this route 2 years ago. Bout a 15 F150 same engine, etc. Couldn't be happier, other than the MPG's suck a little. But the truck overall is excellent. Great towing ability ,comfort,, and so far reliability.
Is it waterfowl season yet..............

Nice choice.  It is not known by many, but the 3.5Eco has more power than the V8.

Now go get yourself a good drop in air filter (not Cold air intake just filter like K&N or AEM) and get a tune.  Ford leaves quite a bit of power on the table with those rigs.  Usually mpg will improve slightly with tune as well as extra power.

I have a 3.5Eco in my '13 Taurus SHO, holly cow what a beast these motors are once woken up with some tuning smelling salts.

Congrats. Dad and brother both have the newer ones, think dad has a 15 and brother has a 16. My dad opted for the EcoBoost also, I've driven it a few times and finally after driving to Portland and back to buy a boat I'm sold. Never been a fan of the Ford's much, but after a 6hr "test" drive pretty sure I'll have one with the EcoBoost some day.

Thanks guys, I am still pretty happy with it. Going to keep it all stock, atleast until warranty is up, then may do a couple of small things but as it is now, I don't think it really NEEDS any tuning, it already has more than enough power for what I need. I guess I'm getting too old too quick, old soul?  :chuckle: Haven't had a chance to hook the boat up yet, but I'm confident it will more than exceed my expectations. Fuel mileage so far is a bit better than what I was expecting from a 4x pickup, getting just shy of 19 driving highway 9 snohomish-woodinville in that lovely daily mess of traffic. So far it has been washed more since I've had it than my Dodge was in the 9 years I'd owned it  :chuckle:

Great truck! Better hope you don’t need any warranty work done on it, your local dealership has the worst customer service ever

So far so good lol. I have a few dealerships I have a few dealers around I can pick and choose from if I ever need it. Hopefully the next 100k will be as trouble free as the first 7k  :chuckle:

Great trucks, Find a good mechanic once out of warranty. We just got back from San Carlos Mexico. Rode from Phoenix airport to San Carlos in a new F-150 at 90 MPH. Lots of power, great MPG. lots of great features in a mid sized truck. Dealerships policies are not in your favor. If you want to hear a few BAD experiences PM me. Never go to one again. I have 5 Ford Trucks. 3- F- 350's diesels , a F-450 Diesel and a 250 Diesel. LOVE them all. Was a chevy man all the way until I bought my first F-350. Over 420,000 miles and runs like a sewing machine. Never go back. No sagging door hinges, No flaking paint, no body rust. Couldn't say enough good. Nice choice.

I got a 2017 f150 this year. First new car I ever bought! Couldn't be happier with it. I went with the 5L V8 b/c I was worried abut the turbo failing after awhile, and my plan is to drive the thing from now until forever... So I opted for the reliability of straight aspiration. It's a beast of a vehicle!

How much did you pay for the truck

Congrats on the new truck.
Funny you mentioned how many times you've washed it so far I just picked up a new dodge 2 months ago and I've washed that more than I did my last truck that I've had for over 20yrs lol
