Without a Weyco permit or private land your options are very few.  There are chunks of state land but many are land locked.  Elk hunting spots are at a premium any more and might be difficult to come by.

So with this new info...  i will be focusing on elk next year. with pto saved up i would like to plan for a 10 day trip east.  can someone explain this elk draw to me? a basic tag will only allow me a spike? while the draw will allow any?  hunted mules in ellensberg last year and saw a heard of 36 elk! I plan on hitting that area up but curious how the tags work. when do elks rut? 30-06 a good round to take an elk with? calls you prefer?

I would stay West if you want a shot at a branch antler bull. Anything East is a draw with the exception of the low populated NE GMU's. I am an east sider hunting the west side for elk in 2018!
