Red Fox question
« on: October 09, 2017, 08:12:34 PM »
I'm down here for a contracting job in Nevada and hunting every night.  just bagged a kit fox and now want to get a red fox.  What calling sequence do you recommend?  There is a abundance of coyotes here and have called them in at almost every set to not shoot in fear of scaring away any fox.  Looking for a call that may lessen the chance of a coyote coming in.  I have a FoxPro, and jack attack that has been pretty good to me so far with the kit fox

They both pretty much eat the same thing, so your going to have to wade through the coyotes until you find a fox.  I've called coyotes on fox distress and just about every call I can think of from the smallest mouse squeak to deer distress.  Reds don't seem to be very prevolent in coyote country.  I used to trap a lot of fox, when coyotes started showing up in the traps the red fox catch would drop off.
After the first shot the rest are just noise.

That's what I understand. Wolves above yotes and coyotes above foxes.
Hey! I'm not a complete idiot I have parts missing. Though sometimes I wonder.

Dont let any yote walk away... If your calling in yotes shoot them and go find a new area. I've trapped a ton of red fox and find them 99% of the time around Ag fields.
If you shoot the first one you will never get that true trophy.
