Step On Wings Technique on upland birds
(1/1)
Cab:
I have done this technique over and over again for grouse but has anyone tried it for chukar or quail? Just curious because it is so effective on grouse that are freshly shot and I want to try chukar/quail hunting for the first time this year.
Alpine Mojo:
Why don't you try and report back on your results?
I'm sure many could benefit from your experience.
GoBeavs85:
I use it for pheasant. Quail skin is so weak I haven't ever needed to. Just tear back the skin with my fingers.

Quail are so little and soft I just pull the skin off and able to pull the breast and wings off.
Never tried the method with chukar, but there is more meat on chukar legs than grouse also.

Its mandatory with coots ( yea I know :puke: ) But you have to clean coots immediately to be edible. If you don't forget it. I mean like now not 30 minutes, not an hour but immediately. Lil milk soak, teriaki fry, few sesame seeds, yum good stuff.
