Late season archery/Muzzle loader? GMU 454
« on: October 22, 2017, 11:34:43 AM »
Hello, all I went scouting this morning while it wasnt raining, In the 454 unit ! Im a new adult hunter. Im not looking for honey holes . I tried to look along clear cuts that have grown a few years. Man its still pretty damn thick. Any suggestions? Am I wasting my time in this GMU it seems very frustating do to the amount of growth ? People harvest deer out of this unit every year. Im starting to think its mostly on private land. Thanks Jason

Not sure about hunting pressure with the smokepole, but I would look at 466 as a better unit.  Little further drive but it is an any deer unit, rather than a buck only.  Maybe dig into the WDFG website and see which has better harvest numbers.

Not a waste of time.
This unit holds aTon of deer.
Persistence will pay off.

What area are you looking at hunting?  Alot of small areas to hunt in 454 if you have OnX maps, zoom in.

Feel free to pm me. I'll be out late archery as well
