I have a Chewuch whitetail permit for Nov 1-20. I will only be able to go Nov 1-5. Anyone have any advise for me?

There's very little public land with good whitetail habitat in that unit.  If you're hunting public land, I don't think you can be choosey.  If you get access to some of the good private land, you'll have a blast.

Not knowing your boundray's,  pretty much everything from Winthrop out to the USFS Eight mile ranch is posted.  There is a piece of private just after the ranch pastures, watch out for it.

Like most Whitetail,  they know how to read signs and know where they are safe!! :chuckle: :chuckle:

Any pics of whitetail bucks from this unit? Alive or dead, public or private land.

Here's a meat buck I shot in that unit about 6 years ago (I haven't took a whitey there since).  Found him in a creek bottom on public land.  Not a trophy, but very tasty.  A .348 to the neck planted him quickly.

All of these bucks spent at least part of their time on public ground that can be accessed off of the East Chewuch road. also you'll find whitetails between the 8 mile ranch up to ortell creek rd along 8 mile creek.

Don't overlook the stuff in the river bottom between Rendevous and Goat Creek Rd. Theres a fair amount of public land in there, and those whitetail will get up on the hillside on the east side of the highway often as well. Learn the property boundaries and get after it.

It's not your fault. Unfortunately Photobucket has made it so you have to pay to be able to share the photos you host on their site.
